Summer Holiday Reads | What I've Been Reading
One of my favourite things to do, especially on a Summer holiday is relax by the pool or on the beach and get stuck into a good book. I find it really hard to find the time to read at home - work and everyday life just really gets in the way! Whilst I'm on holiday I can easily get through three or four books. Although I'm not actually going on an abroad Summer holiday this year (Got a wedding to plan!) I still want to find the time to get into some new books. Simon and I have just got back from Brighton, we went for a few days to celebrate my 25th Birthday. We took the week off work and I've really been enjoying having the time to relax in the garden with a book, whilst he works on his motorbike. I want to share with you some of the books I've loved this year and also a couple I want to get through this Summer.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella | Sophie Kinsella has been my favourite author since being an adult. I was introduced to her books by my cousin when she lent me the first Shopaholic book. I absolutely fell in love with this series and it was the first 'mature' book I read whilst in my early teens. I've finally made an effort and got myself in to reading again and I couldn't wait to start reading 'My Not So Perfect Life'. These days everyone looks like they have their shit together and are total 'goals' on Insta. Well sometimes it's not all what it seems. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. It's full of funny and relatable moments and now I'm so eager to buy all of Sophie Kinsella's books!

Wilde Like Me by Louise Pentland | When Louise first mentioned she was writing her first book, I admit I felt disappointed she fell in to the whole YouTuber book deal craze. I didn't really pay attention for a while when she talked about writing her book until she really explained the story of a single Mum bringing up her little girl. I had never read a book that involved parenthood or 'single- mum-dom' but realised I absolutely loved watching Louise's vlogs and found her so witty and charming, I preordered the book. I really enjoyed Louise's first novel and found it so funny. Wilde Like Me is a great little read and I've preordered the sequel, Wilde About The Girl.

Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince by J K Rowling | You may know that I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I adore the films and watch them multiply times yearly. One thing you may not know, is that I never read the books when I was younger. Not because I didn't want to, but because for some insane reason, my Mum didn't allow me to. My Mum worried that they were 'witchcraft' and had it in her head the if I read the books I would turn into some crazy devil worshipper! Although she didn't let me read the books when I was younger, a few years back I did persuade her to buy my the DVD box set - although she wasn't best please about it, bless her! So I've took it upon myself to read the books. Although I already know the stories and the ending, the books are still as magical as the films and I'm really enjoying reading them. The one thing I love about the films is how detailed they are, so when I read an extra little nugget of magic in the book that isn't included in the film, it's very exciting! I'm trying to read them all before I read the Cursed Child. I've just started The Half Blood Prince and I'm really enjoying it, there's nothing better than the beginning of a Harry Potter book as you know your in for a gripping magical adventure.

New York Actually by Sarah Morgan | I've always loved Sophie Kinsella, I'm always drawn to her humorous, romantic and a little bit naughty light hearted books. So I was on the hunt for something similar and I discovered Sarah Morgan. Sarah Morgan has a ton of 'chick lit' romance books and I was drawn to 'New York Actually' as I'm obsessed with the film Love Actually. I always love films and books set in New York (and of course Sex & The City!) plus there was a cute little Dalmatian on the cover! I've just started this book and I'm really enjoying it so far. We meet Molly, an agony aunt/author/match maker/blogger (my dream career!) who spends her time helping the public with their relationships, but is afraid to have one of her own. Then Daniel a successful New York City divorce lawyer, who's addicted to his career and has intimacy issues himself. I've only read a few chapters but I'm enjoying it so far. This would be a good little read whilst on holiday sitting by the pool!

Sleepless In Manhattan by Sarah Morgan | This is another book in Sarah's 'From Manhattan With Love Series' just like New York Actually is. I haven't started this yet, but I already know I'm going to love this and I'm sure I'll be picking up the rest of the series. Sleepless In Manhattan follows the story of Paige, who has the perfect New York apartment, the perfect career and amazing friends. She's the girl who has it all, until she find herself packing up her desk. We see her trying to rebuild her life and she realises she was missing one thing from her perfect world, the perfect love story.

I'm so excited to be getting back into reading and I've really enjoyed the books I've read recently. What better time to get into a good book than on your Summer Holiday!? (maybe snuggled up in Autumn time - eeek I can't wait!)

I'd love to know what you've been reading and if you have any recommendations for me?
