My First Glossybox | May 2014

Over the past couple of months, I've been hearing/seeing people mention something called a Glossybox. I never really took too much notice though, then thought hey, what IS this Glossybox thing!? After looking it up and watching many a video of Glossybox un-boxing's, I though I'd sign up for myself!

If you are new to the Glossybox thing, then I'll just quickly explain it for you. Glossybox is a monthly subscription beauty box for any beauty junkie out there, who loves trying high street and high end brands. You pay £10 plus P&P (roughly £3.25) a month and receive a box full of 5 sample/full size goodies every month. When you sign up at www.glossybox.co.uk, you will fill out a short survey about your favourite beauty products, then each month you should receive products relevant to your preferences in your box.(Word on the street is, this doesn't happen sometimes...) Glossybox have teamed up with over 200 brands to bring us endless products to try, including Essie, Rimmel, Maybelline, Clarins, L'Occitane, Murad, L'Oréal, Stila and many, many more.

After I went through the endless amount of Brands Glossybox offer, I decided to sign up. Glossybox offer limited edition box's every month or so and May's box was in celebration of Superdrug's 50 year anniversary. So enough of the rambling, here's what I got in my first Box!

Full Size Products...
Rimmel - Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara  I was very excited when I found this little one in my box, as Rimmel are one of my favourite high street brands and I knew I would love this mascara. RRP £6.99
Superdrug - Large Doughnut Ring  Although I love a good doughnut ring bun, this one was quite disappointing for me. I already have myself a trusty doughnut ring and also my hairs not black. Thanks Glossybox , now I know why other Glossybox Subscribers think the survey is a load of "you know what!" RRP £3.99
Max Factor - Facefinity All Day Primer  I'm very happy with this one as it's a full size product that would of cost £10.99, so that's pretty much my whole box paid for! I have used this one once and it does leave your skin feeling beautifully smooth! I did have some wear at the end of the day, but I will continue to use this to get a good feel for it! RRP £10.99
I Love Cosmetics - Strawberries & Milkshake Shimmer & Shine Lip Gloss  To be honest with you, I'm not that impressed with this one, I'm not really a lipgloss kind of girl, I love my lipsticks. I especially don't like the little squeezy tube glosses like this one. This smells quite nice and the shade isn't too bad so I may give it a go. RRP £1.25
GOSH Cosmetics - Velvet Touch Eyeliner   If this was a different colour I'd be really happy with this, but it's violet and I can't say I have ever used a violet eyeliner. I guess that's one of the good things about this box though, it gets you to try things you wouldn't normally buy. RRP £4.99

Bonus Samples...
Garnier - Oil Beauty Lotion I'm not usually one for a foil sample sachet like this, I always chuck them in my skincare drawer then never really use them. For a freebie though I can't complain.
GHOST Fragrances - Eclipse  I love me a good fragrance so I'm very happy with this one, I love a cute little sample fragrance bottle!

Overall I think my first Glossybox is great value for money and I love how it's like a little surprise every month to look forward too. I will be continuing my Subscription for a couple months to see how it goes and hopefully I won't be disappointed.

  1. I'm jealous that you got the eyeliner in your box! I got the primer too and luckily dodged the bun ring! There's a run down of what I got in my box on my blog if you want a look. Everyone seems to have a slightly different box this month which is great! If you carry on subbing to Glossybox then you'll notice that some months everyone gets the same! This is the most variety I've ever known them to have!

  5. I've been thinking of signing up to a beauty box, but can't decide between Glossybox or Birchbox! Love the fact that you're not held into any contract though and can cancel at any point so will definitely have to sign up for one soon x

  6. I actually cancelled my Glossybox subscription after getting this box! I've got a post up on my blog about why, but basically I just don't think it's worth the money after you get over the excitement of getting a package delivered every month. haha. It's nice getting to know new brands at first, but after awhile you'll notice that you don't actually use half of what's in the boxes!

    1. What a shame! I get what you mean though, it can be very disappointing when you receive things that you will not get any use out of. Have you tried Birchbox? I'm going to subscribe, it looks like you get a lot more high end quality products. xx
